Post your answers, or insights about these. I think one might have an error, and i can not see the 2nd one at the moment. :scared:

Also when you have a cube stack with an "open" cube such as the one that you could walk into on the upper right side of this figure how do you treat it. Does it have 5 paintable sides and 4 paintable sides if there was support below (do the insides count?) Also what about cubes that lack lower support such as the one on the upper right (can the bottom be painted?)

Another open one. Would this open one even be a "cube"?

hm, these are harder than the ones i used to practice with. from which resource did you get them? i'd say 2 is B; i had a harder time visualizing 1, but if i had to make a choice, it'd be d. what were your responses?

from acethedat.com

Supposedly 1 is C (i have an argument about this one) and 2 is B (but i can't see this one yet) 😱

As for the cubes, I don't think that kind of hanging block would be asked on the DAT. The ?s are pretty consistent on the test and usually don't have weird things like that. Plus, I think it's a general rule (as taught by Kaplan) that the any upper level blocks will be supported by blocks underneath.

The cubes are not NEARLY that complex, just make a chart, don't skip cubes, and you will be fine.

when i was studying for the PAT, i told myself that i would kill myself if i ever miss a question on the cubes. they always seemed so darn easy (once you learn the tricks) and i always got them all right.

on the real DAT, however, i know there were one stack of cubes that totally killed me. i have no idea what was going on but my eyes were playing games with me. i couldn't even tell how many cubes were stacked together in total. i mean it looked confusing and i couldn't tell how to focus on it.

bottom line, you may encounter hard ones on the real DAT.
keep practicing people. nothing else you could do.

also i forgot to mention that i'm pretty sure you won't see something like the 2nd block figure on the exam. and as for #2, i chose b becuase you have the outer 3 sides slanting to meet each other and there's a hole in the shape of a rectangle that digs down into the figure.

my aim's japolloniac09 if you want to debate more about this. these are fun 🙂
