Hi, so from this question below, I understand that A,B,C are NOT the right answers. I sort of see that E doesn't work as well. I am having trouble with understanding how D is the answer. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I just ran across this one too in CDP. I just rotated it 90 degrees counterclockwise in my head. The triangles get thicker as you move towards the back so this is why the vertical bars in choice D are larger than you might think just by looking at the figure head on. Hope this is somewhat helpful?

Try turning it 90 degrees counter-clockwise (to the left) as Chris said. You'll see the basic outline of answer choice D, a horizontal line with two vertical lines. The length of the line is longer than you might expect since the trapezoids slant as they go back. Look at the back portion of the left trapezoid and you will see that it's longer than the front.
