PAT help: Pattern folding
Started by Psa
isn't answer supposed be C?
for answer A, remember the faces that you see on the question should be the outside.
Yes, the book says the answer is C. How is A not the outside?

I only see answer C as the correct answer. There's only 1 white rectangular piece, so I oriented my view from that piece. If I'm not mistaken, the diagonal is incorrect.

The red line is how it is suppose to be, with the black shade on the up/right side of the line.
Try to print this out and fold it yourself.

Do you fold it inward or outward ?
Into the paper/screen.
It doesn't matter at all which way you fold it, it's not specified in the directions anyway.
The reason it can't be A is because if you fold it toward you so that the grey triganle and front side are as shown, our right side would be grey, not white. The only white side would then be on the back side.

Really? if you fold it towards you and rotate the whole box 90 degrees clockwise, you can get A as an answer (assuming that the box is colored on the backside as well)
Anyways, remember DAT takers, whenever you do pattern folding, unfolded pictures you see on the question must be outside portion of box (which means you have to fold it into the paper)
When i first started my PAT practice, i wasn't sure about this rule and got like 6~8 out of 15.
After i obeyed that rule, i was getting 13~15 out of 15.

I think even if you fold it and rotate 90 degrees, the diagonal is going the wrong way. So I still don't think that "A" works. I think "C" is the only possible answer.

Depends how you fold. The diagonal line is fine if you fold it towards you and the answer can be both A and C. But apparently you have to fold it into the paper and therefore, it is C.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up. I was folding it towards myself, rather than into the paper.

ah ok. yea...first rule is to fold into the screen. Never towards you. It is a lot easier.
