Hello everyone.

So I have sort of been reading here and there for tips and tricks for PAT. I have found some good links to older posts here, but am still having trouble with pattern folding and hole punching. I am using CDP. For pattern folding, I am OK at figuring out the shape when there are three pieces next to each other (if they are squares, the three pieces form an L). However, if they are all the way on opposite sides of the shape, I have trouble figuring it out. Are there any additional tips or tricks that you guys use to get these down?

I had trouble with these pattern folding questions as well and this is what I started doing (and it has helped me quite a bit): I look at every answer choice at the front of the cube, for example, A that you have there and I compare it to the original image and ask myself: can the other two sides be next to the front one? and of course the orientation of the shaded portions. It helps me to eliminate the answers down to 2.

For hole punching, I am having a little trouble with as well...I am trying to get down the line of symmetry that many on this forum claim to be helpful..I am still working on it though. Have you looked into the line of symmetry method? If not, here is the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ud0ZX0eEFA

I am also having problems with pattern folding. For Hole Punching I have to say the LOS saved me, it took me some time to get it but I jumped from getting 1/15 to 14/15 in the last tests, it just clicked.

For those who took the DAT, is pattern folding this hard (as CDP with a lot of shading)?

Definitely watch the youtube video Eugeniager posted!!! This guy was a life saver for hole punching. Watch his video until it clicks. It will click sooner or later! Then just keep on doing hole punch problems on CDP until you drill it into your head! I use to suckkkk at hole punching, but now I think they are fun to do.

Anddd for pattern folding, I suck at that too....I haven't really seen any good methods to help with pattern folding. I wish someone would do a good tutorial on it. Pattern folding is really pulling my PAT score down 😳

Thanks everyone. Maybe this is a stupid question, but can these patterns be folded INTO the page or OUT of it only? Or can it be either?

Into the page. RMR to look at the ans, follow the distinct shading and match it up to the actual image. This will help you eliminate
