PAT Keyhole Inversion Question

The answer to the question here is C. I noticed that to achieve this, the "key" would need to be rotated 180 degrees to the right (essentially inserting it into the "keyhole" backwards in its displayed orientation), because the lip is on the right side in the question, but in the figure, this lip terminates at the right side. I for some reason didn't know this was allowed, and wanted to confirm with the community that this sort of inversion/moving of the displayed "key" is indeed correct? (or am i just going crazy?)

if you look at the lip (the part sticking out) on the figure, it is shown to only exist on two sides (closest to us) of the object since you cant see the start of the ledge peeking out and connecting to the lip that you can see. If you look at the orientation of the circle, you can see that its not fully centered. So C would be the view if you turned the object 180 degrees. You can eliminate A because theres no hole, B is too small of a square, D shows the base being too extended. and E shows the "lip" extending past the diagonal cross section which is not what the obect does. I hope that helps!
