I've been working on the keyhole the last couple of days. Suddenly it's starting to make a lot more sense. I still draw out the TOP/FRONT/SIDE views for each of the shapes. So I have 2 questions about this method. Will I run out of time on the actual DAT if I use this method? And 2, If I draw a Side view for example, and the answer choices are rotated... am I allowed to rotate my scratch paper on which I drew the side view? I don't plan on holding it up to the screen, just rotating to save time. Anyone do this and know for sure that it is allowed? 😕

You can hold up the scratch paper, use a pencil to measure, do whatever you want. Use what you have wisely. When the ADA says that you are not allowed to use measuring devices, they mean an actual calculator or ruler.

It depends on the Prometeric center you test at. Some SDN memebers in previous posts said that they were instructed to not touch the screen. Also if you are planning on drawing out each of the keyholes you will be pushed for time when you get to the more time intensive groups such as cube counting and pattern folding.

If drawing them out is helping you get better at viaualizing the keyholes, then by all means keep doing it. When you start taking practice DAT's you'll get a better idea of where you need to start cutting your time down. I was taught in my kaplan prep course that keyholes, angle ranking, and hole punching should be your fastest groups so that you have ample time for the harder groups.

Wow those centers must suck!!

Also keep in mind that the scratch paper may be colored, and nothing sees through it. Mine was yellow!

Mine was pink 🙂
