Hello everyone!

I've been practicing for PAT and have been using the line counting method for the TFE section on Crack DAT PAT. It makes the section really easy! But I read on DAT Bootcamp that the DAT is catching on and it's no longer a very useful strategy.

Those of you that have taken the DAT recently, did you use this strategy, or did you just visualize the objects? If you used it, was it no longer helpful? For example, did it only help you narrow the question down to 3 options instead of 1 or 2?

Thanks!

Line counting will not work. If you plan on using line counting, you're honestly better off using my method, which was guessing "C" on all of TFE.:smack:

But in all seriousness, if you use line counting, you're in for the longest 60 minutes of your life.

I had the same question.... I'm doing better now using the "event theory" thing from Kaplan but it sounds like a fancy name for line counting. I understand the problem once I see the 3D solution but I'm lost otherwise, I might just answer C for all of them too. Not worth the time lol.

It's basically useless. You won't be able to even eliminate answers using it.

Line counting is one of many resources you should understand to crush tfe. Ex. It's common for the DAT to show images that vary between a diamond, square, and circle . If you can count lines, you know the diamond has 3 vs 2 lines for the others...

This technique helps on SOME answers but is only part of the solution . You must literally picture the object in your head.
