Can someone please explain why the answer is C not B
The reason is quite simple. That shaded triangle in B simply doesn't exist. It is the mirror image of the one in the question and you can only fold in. In other words, no matter how you rotate the given shaded triangle, you will never get the one shown in B. They are non superimposable.

You can't really say anything about it's being two different shaded triangles because they are mathematically identical. Here's why.

1. The object shows the triangles are equilateral.
2. All the choices show a folded object that are identical in shape and size except the funny protrusion and therefore, we must assume all the triangles are equilateral as well.
3. Now look at B and C. Since the triangles are equilateral and the diagonal intersects the midpoint of one side, mathematically, the two half triangles are identical.

Just because they look kinda odd doesn't mean they are different! Be very careful about this.
