How the hell do you do paper folding...i mean do you usually fold in to the page or out of the page??? Kaplan told me you fold into the page but for some reason i think they are wrong because i fold into the page in Crack PAT but i keep on getting it wrong.

I fold out. I tried the tic tac toe box method but for me it's easier if I keep tabs in my head. I thought drawing the lines took time and was more confusnig.

yea i usually fold out and was getting 14/15 on everyone but then switched because my kaplan teacher said if you fold out you will get it wrong every time, pisses me off i have 3 days left til my test and now i have to switch strategies jeezus man

also can someone check out Crack PAT test #9 question #25, im pretty sure the answer is D and even in their explanation they show you the top view and i swear the answer it D, someone check it out and correct me if iam wrong its an awesome question btw...

Also while your at it, on the same test #9 check out question #54, they say answer is D but i chose B and even in their explanationn it shows the answer to be B...

for some reason i think crack pat has ALOT of mistakes....

When the figure involves shades, numbers (dice), or weird lines you should ALWAYS fold in. B/c you cannot assume that the other side of the figure have the same shades. I hate those crack pat figures that are cubes with just lines coming out from different corners or angles. I hate em! I even cut out a few cubes and drew on the lines to get better understanding. With these I guess I just follow what shade is adjacent in the given figure to my choices unless its a cube then you gotta check the far corners b/c they can touch too.

When it does not involve lines or shades, it will not matter if you fold in or out. These are usually easier, b/c just like keyhole you just have to pay extra attention to the minor details of which choices matches up to your figure.

I think Kaplan's PAT 6A subject test does a good job giving examples of these.

hey hoangDDS have you gone through crack test #9? if so check number 25 and 54 im pretty sure they have it wrong...

I'm not there yet, but I'll check em out for you right now. BRB.

Also check with Dr. Hoya he's really good at this stuff too. I asked him to check on a few crack questions too.

I got a 24 on the PAT on the real DAT and beleive me when i say fold into the page. You will get wrong answers if you fold out. Always fold in it is part of the rules. You can read them if you want before you start each section but that wastes time. Remember always fold in.

If possible can you screenshot the problems and post them as a pic. I wanna see what your talking about.

25 - B, they said C. I'm sure it's B. There are 7 vertical events on the front view therefore there should be 7 vertical events on the top view. However C only has 6 vertical events.

54- B. I dont see anything wrong with that.

lol, i thought you were having trouble with pattern folding these twos are TFE and hole punching?

Can someone lpease post the pic for the question, I love TFE. I didnt see any mistakes in the first five Crack tests and id like to see this question.

Yes i got the 5 test version. I did each test twice. In the beginning my first mark was like a 17 but it kept going up. I thought Crack was awsome and helped me so much.

no yea it was just a general question, but i just took test #9 and was wondering about those 2 qquestions.

Do they say that the answer for 54 is B for you??? i bought my crack pat last year and its prob not updated they said the answer is D...

how would u compare the TFE, key holes, and paper folding to the real thing???? right now im just having trouble with paper folding...usually i finish the test with around 15-20 minutes to spare so i just go back and do the few marked ones i had...did you have time left on the real thing?? thanks

Damn, I guess we dont have the same test. I just got mine a few weeks ago. And it just so happen that the 25 on this test is wrong too. I wish I can screen shot, but im on 12 apple and I dont know how. I dont see a screen shot button like the PC at home.

But actually the 25 on my version, none of the answers are right compared to the "explanation figure" . But if you count lines B matches up correctly but it doesn't matches the explanation figure. But the explanation figure does not match any of the choices.

The 54 was a simple pattern folding my test. Its a just one long quater fold, followed by two triangle folds.

Sorry Klutzy, I'll try to find out how to print screen on a mac and I'll send u the figure. It's really not that complicated.

There is no Print Scrn button on a mac PC??? lol i learn something new every day lol.

hey klutzy, on the real test can you count lines for TFE, or are they all the same and dont bother...

Counting lines works when you have a sillouhette, meaning that there is a figure that doesnt have any dashed or solid lines going through it. It is very easy to recognize when line counting will work and usually by a sillouhette you will be able to knowck off two answers. If you are good at TFE and dont need to count lines then dont bother unless it is really obvious. However counting lines is a little time consuming and dont use it more than you have to (i mean dont use it and realize that it doesnt work 2 minutes later lol). If your gonna use it make sure that it works first.

Just for you Kluzty.

omg I got it, but it wont let me upload unless its 400x400 . brb I'll get it up.

i know how to use it, im just asking did you come across using it on the test, unless they give you answer choices that all have the same number of lines..therefore it wouldnt work...

I wa able to use it for like 4-5 questions to help me eliminate 2 choices right off the bat. I didnt have any questions where i could solve just based on line counting though.

haha yea its always like that, line counting just helps you eliminate 2 at most...but hey that can help a lot

I'm with Hoang and the other guy about pattern folding. If you have been getting 14/15 by folding out, you have been EXTREMELY lucky, Osim. You have to fold into the paper, and remember, the other side of the paper does not have any color on it.

so basically cube folding do into page but the other folds do out or in just to visualize it...

I too fold in
FYI, but folding out would give you the same out come,
it is all mental. you would just have to think of the cube as see through
It might actually help when they give you on that is on the back.
