help all,

i have been studyin for my dat for a while and i am taking my test on wed, but i havent used crack dat pat. i scored about a 19-23 on every kaplan test for PAT and i am only aiming for at least a 19,20, and I am simply wondering what to expect differently for the DAT vs Kaplan. everyone says it is harder, but which sections in particular, and how much harder? will it hurt me that much?

Also, i have looked at ppls scores on their crack dat vs kaplan vs real dat PAT scores and they are all pretty close... crack usually a pt or two lower.

any advice helps! thanks

angles on kaplan are MUCH easier than the real test. thats one think you might want to be aware of. also, hole punches are slightly easier on kaplan too. another thing is tho, even if you've been practicing a lot with kaplan, its always good to diversify. this is because after a while you might "get used to" the tricks and might tend to see trends or patterns with the problems from kaplan. if you diversify your sources, you might be able to avoid getting used to one kind of trends and might actually understand how to tackle any type of problem thats been thrown at you. I know you can't do much with 3 days left, but if you really want, I'd say get the $70 CDP with 5 tests, and do all 5 in the next 2 days.

I used Kaplan, TopScore, and Barron's DAT, and what was definitely way to easy on Kaplan was Angle Ranking. I always aced angle ranking on the kaplan tests, but then when it came to the actual DAT I came to some questions and my jaw would like drop and I said to myself, "what the hell, those are all the same damn angle!" I thought hole punching was also slightly more difficult, but not by much, and keyhole was about the same. Cube counting is always pretty straightforward, so it wasn't too bad - and I just ALWAYS suck at pattern folding, but it was definetly harder than kaplan's.

Good luck!
