Hey guys I am struggling with improving my TFE and pattern folding ability. Through advice here on SDN I have drastically improved my angle ranking and hole punching scores. Can anyone lend some helpful advice on acing these two sections? They are literally keeping me from scoring higher than a 20-21. Help!

Yes, TFE was definitely the hardest section for me too! If you are aiming for a 20-21, I would suggest skipping the TFE section and go straight to the sections you are good at and acing those first! And then if you have time, do the TFE.

I sort of got the hang of TFE by using CRACK DAT's videos explanations. I also got a sheet of paper and drew out what I expected the missing view would look like by visualizing it. It sort of helped. You can always try line counting but it may not work for all the problems.

I was decent at pattern folding. Try origami, seriously! I usually just focused on one part of the object.

Good luck. But PAT is really not really that important. Aim for a 20+ and you should be good!

I don't have any great advice on TFE, but I wonder if you are having the same problem I did on pattern folding. You may already know this, but you are only allowed to fold the pattern into the plane of the paper. That is to say that the back of the pattern is white, and can't be folded out towards you. Once I realized that I was able to drastically improve my ability to visualize the final folded pattern, and improve my scores on that section. Hope that helped.
