out of curiosity, for those of you who have taken the exam...is the PAT section closer to achiever or topscore?

i.e. assuming you're getting 17 on achiever and 21-22 on topscore...is your score likely to lean towards the 17 or the 21-22?

i know the score on the real deal can't really be predicted, but in terms of difficulty...what should we expect?

i havent taken the DAT yet (monday, coming soon) but I would say lean it more towards achievers score. Its always better be safe and expect a realistic score instead of gettin your hopes up, thats how i see it.

oh my goodness 😱 😡 I hope it's more like my topscore PAT

i dont THINK the acutal PAT is like achiever, because I think achievers DAT is pretty ridiculous. I heard you should expect to lose 2-3 points from kaplans PAT section and that your PAT will be a little less then topscores. Ive heard its harder then topscore and also that its right on with topscore so I really dont have any clue.....dont know if i helped you guys...haha...good luck to us all!

I've been reading this message boards for over a year, and let me first say thankyou to all the extremely nice, kind, and warm hearted SDN'er out there; I've read the support you give and it is amazing! I graduated from St. Mike's College in VT last year as a Phi Beta Kappa Music and Psychology double major in the honors program, and just completed a full post baccalaureate premed program at Boston University (took general bio I & II, general chem I & II, and physics I & II all with lab) in the Fall and Spring, respectively, and just took Organic I & II with lab this summer. I studied for three weeks straight (about 7-10 hours a day) and just took the DAT today - still alittle drunk....but did well AA 20, PAT 20 TS 20🙂 but to give you an idea, i took both achiever and topscore, my results were:

topscore test 1: PAT 20
topscore test 2: PAT 21
didn't take topscore 3

achiever 1: PAT 17
didn't take achiever 2 because it was tooooo difficult and not worth the effort. You will NOT see anything comparable to acheiver on the real DAT PAT except for the angle ranking (for example the achiever has hole punching on half-fold-lines, the DAT definetely does not do this, it is much more straight forward like the kaplan blue book)

I took the DATs in August and got a 20 in the PAT. My score was somewhere between Topscore and Achiever. While I got around a 21, 22 on Topscore, I got around an 18 on Achiever and around 23, 24 on Kaplan.

Hope this helps

thanks for the replies, guys (and girls)...it really does help. thats a relief...i've been getting 17s on achiever, 20-21's on topscore and 22-23 on kaplan

its nice to know theres a chance the scores might land between there

yea, dont be put off by achiever, every part except the angle ranking is way harder than the actual DAT. I would say the difficulty of keyholes, projections, and cube counting is close to kaplan, hole punching is a bit harder than topscore but no where near acheiver and paper folding is about the same as topscore. Angle ranking was a real pain, id say theres about 5 obvious ones and the rest i basically guessed. That just may mean Im bad at angle ranking though.
