Hey guys,

So ive taken about 7 CDP tests and have run through many of the extra PAT problems on the royal flush addition and for some reason my overall score is just NOT going up! Ive looked at all the tutorials and many videos but the highest I have gotten so far is a 19 and i need a better score 🙁 .... any advice? What else can I do because im just starting to feel super discouraged at this point and my test is 2 weeks away.

Ive heard CDP is a little easier than the real DAT as well which worries me a bit..any hope ill improve and if so how!!

Any advice/help will be VERYYYY appreciated! thank youu

For me, crack dat pat was a bit harder than the actual pat.
My score for cdp (I guess you are referring to crack dat pat?) was 20, but my actual pat score was much higher than that...
So you should not be discouraged, and you still have another 2 weeks to prepare! 🙂

I'm in the same boat 🙁 my highest score is 21 and I heard the real DAT in harder and my test is in two weeks too :'( just keep practicing and go over the ones you got wrong. I heard achiever is really good but only the PAT section.

make sure you are abandoning the tutorials that are useless..don't use line counting. It is unhelpful and doesn't apply to most problems. For hole-punching use Jtran's method. Dont worry about angles. i heard on the real pat they are much easier. For keyholes and TFE and folding, you'll just have to try really hard to visualize.

i am in the same boat as you are.

Thanks for all the input guys...this is why i love SDN!! lol

jpark..alot of people say not to use line counting but I dont really get what other method to use then? I kind of count the lines and try and visualize the image at the same time kind of with the lines..how else can I do it?

If I had more time I would have purchased achiever. My PAT was pretty hard and CPAT only partially prepared me for it. Each exam is different so you never know. My angles were just as tough, along with TFE and pattern folding was ridiculous. My highest score was 22 on my last 3 exams. I did all ten tests and then did them again. Practice as often as you can and get faster and more accurate.

PAT is one of those things where you're either good at or you're not. Sure you can get better with practice, but you'll see a lot more progress if you start out being able to visualize things in your head.

All you need in this section is an 18 and above at most schools. Achiever is the better resource for PAT, hands down. The ratio of the time that I spent actually doing a TFE or keyhole problem on achiever to the time I spent actually going over the problem is probably 1:100 <---I kid you not. That program will make your CDP scores jump by at least 3 points after you are done with it. I only got a 20 on the PAT section of the real DAT, would have probably gotten higher if not for the messed up pattern folding section. Bottom line, the PAT section is doable, just put in the effort.

First and foremost I just want to say that the experience is different for everyone. That being said, I disagree with some of the things that have been said in this thread. I always hear people say 'don't worry about hole punching, or angle ranking! They are cake--while this might be true for some, you have to realize there are so many different PATs at play here..some easier than others. I listened to the people that said angle ranking was a joke, and that hole punching was easier. And it screwed me. Crack DAT was easier OVERALL, but the sections that were difficult aren't always the same on every PAT. For example, I completely overlooked angle ranking and hole punching. I never got less than 10/15 on CDP. I spent so much time on keyholes (glad I did) and TFE (not glad I did). Well on DAT day..my angle ranking and punching were ridiculously hard compared to CDP. Keyholes were tough too, but my TFE was soooo easy. What I am trying to get at here is that you have to disregard all talk about this section being easy blah blah and just put an even effort into every section. Practice hard, and develop strategies that work for every section. Get your hands on acheiver and dont let low scores get you down. Just stay motivated and don't get stuck in the this sections easy according to SDN'ers so I can skip that for today. Good luck.

I agree that you should not discount the difficulty of any of the sections... Except for cube counting. My whole PAT, save for the cube part, was extremely difficult--much harder than anything I had encountered in Crack. I never used Achiever, but if it is harder than Crack, I would definitely suggest it. Your PAT may be easy, or it may be very hard. I'd prepare for the worst, but hope for the best!

Difficult for you must've meant not knowing how to do 2-3 lol.
Given your score, i'd say what you call 'difficult' doesn't apply to most people.
