So my Test is this Thursday and I am scoreing around 16 on pat (i need a 17 to pass). I am struggling in :

TFE
Hole punching
Pattern folding

First, how important is that PAT score honestly? If i just get the 17 I need, does it really make that much of a difference? My other scores are all 19-21 and math may even be higher.

Second, how can I improve the sections above? I literally have no clue how to do them and I just guess most of the time.

Well, there's not really a "pass" score you need; I know below 17 is not favored, and QR/ PAT is pretty lenient with scores, but obviously to a certain extent. If you have no clue how to do those sections and are guessing, I STRONGLY suggest that you reschedule. It will be challenging to get even 17 if you are guessing most of the time on those sections. For example, say you guessed on all of them for those 3 sections. So, let's say, you got 7 right on each. So you missed 8 on each. That's already -24, not to mention you still have the other 3 sections. Just my advice; better to wait and do better, than rush and regret it.

I understand, but dont place all your bets on one school; only you know when you are ready.

Lol I just realized how that made no sense at all. Creating a grid(4x4) and marking the holes as you visualize each fold unfolding helps a ton.

I hope you watched those two videos because of you understand his strategy you should be getting almost all right for hole punch every time.

You would be wise to invest In bootcamp or at least do the generators to help practice.

Hi Tariqd,

It is true you don't need to score as high on the PAT as the science and reading sections, you don't want to bomb it either. I have posted on the board many times I am not a huge fan of timed test, so I can't comment on what you might expect to score on test day based on your pre- test score.

If you are solid in all the other sections about all you can do at this time is focus on PATI know there a lot of videos on you tube, or it would be great if you could find a student in your area that is a wizard in the PAT and perhaps they can give you some help. I can barely tell a circle from a square so I am useless when it comes helping you on the PAT and not something I enjoy.
