Anyone familiar with them? Employed by them? Ever been acquired (or attempted) by them? If so, PM me please.

Path group corp out of Nashville? Yah..I know them. Would avoid like HIV.

Yes, that's the group. They are ever so slowly increasing their northern border. They are now in my backyard.

They are crap. They client bill anatomic in my neck of the woods. The also do clin path etc. the pied pipered some ENTs away, but some still use us. Screw em let em get sued. I know one of their paths was an IMG who flunked Step 3 a bunch of times. Meh. Crap in and crap out.

I’d avoid like prion disease. I doubt I’d work for them, you’d be pushing glass for some fat business jock all day. I’d do VA or mercenary plantiff expert before I did that.

I spoke to their CEO a few times a few years ago, Davis is his last name. He seemed ok and smart as hell. I never worked with them though. Very resourceful and successful organization for whatever that's worth (admittedly, the Gestapo could have also been described that way).

Do they have high turnover? Is this the case where the founders/shareholders at the top get the biggest pieces of the pie and employees are left with breadcrumbs leading to a revolving door of pathologists? Or employees make partner regularly and seem to be satisfied?

Would avoid like HIV.
Care to elaborate why?

We should take bets on how many years before they become part of labcorp or quest.

No personal experience, but 3 of my co-residents are former Pathgroup employees. In such a large organization it depends where you land and how decent the immediate people around you are. Could be in a chill niche in bum-f Indiana or Tennessee. My impression is that it would be more or less equivalent to a LabCorp job.

Anyone ever been acquired/bought out by them, or know of any practices that have or even considered that option?

Based on the stuff I see that was signed out there, they rush through stuff, probably out of necessity. I can imagine that one would get burned out very quickly in a place like that.... and that they wouldn't care one bit.

There are 76 pathologists in that group, so I really doubt there are 76 opportunities for partnership. Control of the group is probably held by about a dozen pathologists there and they expect the rest to churn and burn. Unless the partner buyout is really really good by a LabCorp or Quest type organization (in the 8 figure range), those dozen partners can't have it any better than this.

Another exhibit on the extortion of pathologists. Who would want this???? Imagine if hospitals were BEGGING you do do their work. Please, come work for us! We offer you freedom to collect the fruits of your labor!! (Just like most other doctors get)

FLEE PATHOLOGY NOW! OUR LEADERSHIP HAS FAILED US!!! BIG ACADEMIA HAS FORMALIN ON THEIR HANDS!!!!! (actually they don't, only their armies of heavily subsidized indentured trainees do)

Haven’t been acquired but they have inquired in the past. Most of the groups in our region would rather sell to Satan than PathGroup. If you sell plan on them trimming your pathologist staff to bare bones and shipping everything else to their central facility at Grassmere.

They are the biggest competition in our area and we have gone head to head with them for several hospital contracts. We have won more than we have lost. We have also employed several pathologists over the years that have fled PathGroup. They all repeat most of what has been said here.

They are closely tied to TriStar and have all of their large facilities in metro Nashville. The day to day is akin to a pathology factory and most of the pathologists are just cogs in the machine.

Ben Davis is a really smart dude and has built an impressive empire, but like many have said unless you are in the upper echelon of the company you are basically a slide monkey.

A pathmill run by some pathologists. Hope you don't want to live in their territory....you get to join the mill! Or so much for living near family/friends. The job will decide where you live, not the pathologist. Just a continued huge oversupply and no change coming.
