It may be useful to know which programs have sent rejections. To some extent, it gives an idea of who is probably wrapping up their candidate selection process (not always). In bracket, I have written how many positions/how many applications program received)

I will start. (In my case, I think I made a mistake in my personal statement saying effectively that I am interested in southern programs, and then sending the same PS to a few non-southern programs 🙁. I think it is reflected in where I got rejections from).

good post guys. yes, i think sending a PS saying you want to be in a particular geographic location to programs outside that area can definitely hurt you. human beings read these. keep this in mind at the interview stage. don't lie because that's not professional, but choose your words thoughtfully.

make sure you choose a program where you can see yourself being happy in for four years. I know of a program where residents dont even talk to each other. Can you imagine being in that atmosphere for four years?

Oh yes, and I think the breakdown at Chicago must have been 97 US Seniors, 1 AMG re-applicant, and 399 FMG's 🙂.

Call it sour grapes if you want (in reality I didn't care), but I think University of Chicago program would have to fight for top 50 programs in the country. I have friends who have worked there. Small people, very average program, tethered to a big name university.

I am just wondering what it would be like in REAL-top programs. Hopefully somebody gets a rejection from Stanford, Mayo and Hopkins with candidate numbers proudly advertised (Although I think good programs don't feel a need to proudly advertise how important they are!)

I received a rejection from MUSC on 10/3.

Not yet receiving invites, I am hoping this is because I only have two letters in so far. Should I be worried?

I assume most programs will not ever send rejections, and we just find out by never receiving an interview offer?

Depends. Some programs do send rejections early on, as I found out! Look up this thread. That is one reason I started it. But I think most of the programs do not, you have to just call the programs you have applied to, to find it out. They will let you know of your application status and process completed so far.
