WEll I downloaded a great Program the other day for my PALM from epocrates.com which gives you just about every drug out there. IT lists the contraindications, drug interactions, and a lot of other important little details. If you ask me I think that its a must when you are in your 3rd or 4th year, especially when you are unsure about what type of drug the patient is taking.

In my opinion, I think it tells a lot about you as a doctor if youare informed about perscription drugs and why a patient is taking a certain drug, even ones that will not have a effect on the procedure that you will be doing that day.

IM looking for a similar program that has the basic pathology diseases such as MI, RF, Diabetes, TURNERS, Parkinsons.....etc.... you know what im getting at! When reviewing a patients chart and some of these diseases do not sound familiar to you its always good to have something to review right before seating the patient. SO if anyone out there has downloaded some free stuff that would be helpful to us dental students please share. Thanks!

Yup, I got one of those on my Sony Clie PDA...

The one I got is Griffith's 5-Minute Medical Consult, AKA "5MCC". It's a database of diseases and includes things like differential diagnoses, symptoms, demographics, treatment, etc.

Several companies market 5MCC with their own interfaces, mine is from Lexi-Comp (I also got their Dental LexiDrugs on my Clie SJ30). A 30-day trial download is available from their website.

I think there is also a version for oral disorders too-- Gonna get it when I get my 1GB Sony Memory Stick. 😀

Gavin previously listed a website with PDA resources.. I think there might be a free version out there somewhere but don't remember offhand.

HTH!
