Ummmm, No. No.
Lifestyle for residency, yes pathology is good, but in RL path is pretty much with the rest of the pack with some people working 70+ hours while others work 30-40. In my experience it is no different than Peds or IM or Rads or anything other than Surgery when you emerge from residency.

And, lets not fool ourselves path is THE field for the medical dork, the know-it-all beady-eyed, glasses wearing nerd with the short sleeved white dress shirt with the dark tie, gray slacks and pocket protector (stocked with slide dotting pen, the Pilot, and a ruler). We attend conferences typically by ourselves(tumor boards and the like), sit in the corner and only end up talking to the radiologist. Maybe once in a blue moon some hot rad onc or med onc chick might say hi, of course you'll blow it by getting nervous and acting all ******ed. Sorry to burst your bubble but....
