I'm taking the pathology shelf exam tomorrow morning and haven't had much time to study for it. Has anyone taken it recently? What subject areas should I focus on with less than 24 hours left to study? Thanks in advance.

Some high yield topics I would suggest:

- burnout infarct
- procrastinatory stroke
- infective crammitis

Other than that, you'll do just fine.

Seriously though, it's not worth it. You won't retain anything in one day of studying. If you must read something, read and read and read First Aid. If you have a Kaplan path book, read the crap out of that. Good luck, seriously. You'll need it.

i am tempted to post a giant picture saying PWNED...but that would be mean

do u really think systemic path takes a night to learn??!?!

Look my friend, I'm still in a second year but i will study pathology next semester, I have a very big experience, so in a case like this I study onlyyyyyy questions and quizes and board questions will be useful.
later..

what do people recommened for the patho shelf exam? I've been reading a lot of threads about boards prep and I see a lot of Rapid Review Pathology by Goljan along w/ his audio lectures. Is RR Patho also good to study for the shelf test or should I use BRS patho for the shelf and RR Patho for the boards? What are some other sources? I also heard Robbins Review of Patho and FA, like always, is a must.

I just took the path shelf, I wrote down many questions over 70+ and looked up the answers.

We take the path mini-board as our final exam in path. I think it's the same thing as the path shelf? In any case, that is coming up in like 3 weeks so I would love to hear some good suggestions on how people studied for it, or insights into what the test was like. So far, my plan is to use an organ system approach to go through RR, FA, and Robbins Review.

This advice is too late for the OP, but to those others questioning which sources are good I have only one Strong recommendation:

BRS Pathology. I loved this book second year, it was such a critical bunch of bound papers. I had used a few "Grid books" throughout the first 2 years and Path was by far the best of all of them. I also had a copy of big-daddy Robbins to consult, mostly for pictures.

But when I compared the outlines of BRS and Robbins, they were freakishly similar. It struck me as a super-concise little mini-Robbins with questions. I also used the Robbins Q&A book, which was pretty good. BRS Path is worth triple its weight in gold, in my humble opinion!
