Whoooo! I just finished taking the shelf in path and boy, I got whipped! I couldn't believe some of the stuff they put on there. I remember getting a question involving some obscure lab test that would lead me toward a GI abnormality but it didn't give a very good clinical history, the picture was terrible (I think it was stomach?), and the best guess I could give for the answer was that it was Menetrier's disease (by process of elimination and a little bit of luck!). The question didn't even mention anything about enlarged rugae in the stomach but did touch on the increased plasma cell infiltrate. I'm pretty bummed about the whole thing. Did anyone else get anything they were just like, "HUH?" on? Any particular diseases you wish you had focused on? I don't want to be in the same boat when I take Step 1.

Did anyone go through the Robbins question book before taking the shelf exam in pathology? Did it help? If so, which edition?

This is what she wrote after she took the exam. 🙄

Thanks for being my personal secretary. Your lack of intelligence causes you to find those two posts nonsensical and thus, blatant lies counteracting one another. Did it ever occur to you that maybe the writers of the pathology shelf exam are the same people that have written Step 1 exams? Perhaps if you studied the Robbins Review book and did well on the shelf that there may be a correlation to the Step 1 performance...by the way, why do you keep stalking all of my posts? 👎 Are you four years old?

Didn't your mamma teach you how to treat a gentleman. Look chick, how do you know that the same people make both exams. Stop making up stuff to cover your tracks.

You have no clue. Get a life. If you don't think the shelf exam writers (NBME) are the same as the USMLE writers (NBME), you're as dumb as dork. Shelf exams aren't made by the NBME to serve as easy exam material for professors. They are supposedly representative of the content and style you will see on a real USMLE.

What are the policies on removing troublemaking members of SDN? Has anyone else had problems like this?

I can't understand how someone has enough time to nitpick at someone and be a medical student. Your comments are not welcome anymore. If you don't want to know about things I post, keep your nose out of it. You are getting on everyone's nerves. You are badgering anything I say on this forum and on the USMLE forum. Get a life!

umm, it's pretty well known that the writers of the shelf exam (nbme) are the same writers that make the step1 exam.

Finally got my score back from the path shelf. I did much better than I thought when I left the exam room. How has everyone else done that has taken it so far?

i was thinking of studying physio for a few days before studying approx 1 week for the path exam, because i'm getting nervous about the boards and feel like my physio could use some review. does anyone who has taken the path shelf think this would help? i really need to review physio but at the same time don't want to bite it on the path shelf. serious answers only please 🙂.

Our Pathology and Behaviorial Science shelf exams are composed of retired Boards questions. If it is like her Shelf exam than yes, technically its written by the same people who write the boards.
