Anyone take the pathology shelf and do well with just Pathoma? Also looking for the best Qbank for Path Shelf (heard it was really specific)

Thanks!~

I would also like to know if pathoma works for this. I annotated the blue marginal comments from goljan into pathoma, and will look at red Robbins, but other than that is pathoma good?

Check on Scribd.com, there are some really good free qbanks posted for path and pharm shelf and for the comprehensive basic science exam.

Yea, Pathoma was good enough. The questions are definitely tougher than the sample ones on the NBME website though.

If you've gone through Pathoma once or twice, even with questions you don't know the answer to, you can generally reason your way through it. If you've also been doing the blue margins/blue boxes from RR, I think you'll be golden. There are occasional WTF questions though that I think even people who read Robbins might not have known -- luckily, there were only 1 or 2 of these types of questions on my exam.

Pathoma was wonderful. Even though it's proven, and I'll probably be labled a heretic for saying so, IMHO Pathoma > RR.

agreed!! for my designated Step 1 Study time so far...very good for retaining the info compared to RR...

Dude's a great teacher. I retained a lot of biochem, anatomy, histology, physiology from his mnemonics.

Just to follow up real quick, I just got my Path Shelf exam back and scored in the mid 80's percentile wise. This is with using only Pathoma and not touching Golijan. If you truly want to score in the 90's (though I think 80's is awesome IMO) maybe Golijan has that extra fluff you need, but for me and my time management, Pathoma was perfect 🙂 I also didn't cram at all the few days before the Shelf Exam, so I feel like Pathoma is really good for long term memorization and recall! Can't recommend it enough!!

I used pathoma and only read the blue notes on the side of Goljan with each chapter. I didn't read goljan, look at any charts, or even listen to his lectures - just PATHOMA! I did exceptionally well on this exam and didn't even have time to do questions other than the 140 question test at the end of BRS path. I would highly recommend pathoma!!
