Pathophysiology

I'm taking Pathophysiology this semester. while it's not a prerequisite for pharmacy school admission, do you think that an adcom will look favorably on this course? Especially if I get a good grade? I think that having an understanding of pathophys will be helpful in school.

I'm a bit nervous about this course because the instructor states that it's a very difficult course - about a 9.75/10 in difficulty... It's been a few years since I've taken physiology, but I made A's... Wish me luck!

ABSOLUTELY they will look favorably upon it. How could they not, especially if you do well in the course.

A great deal of pharmacy is understanding mechanism of action and physiologic response of a drug.

Well, what better way to integrate that and apply it to a real patient than to understand the disease pathology behind what you are treating.

Pathophys is fascinating...I hope you really enjoy it.

But in my opinion, I think it can only help you.

I took pharmacology as a premed. It wasnt the most impactful or important course that helped me in medical school, but helped me understand and appreciate what I was learning that much more.

Thanks for the info. I'm very excited about it. We will be having case studies on our exams that give a workup and labs on a patient, then it's up to us to determine the dx and recommend tx. That is what interests me the most. I'm in a good study groove and have my first exam at the end of this week. I am visualizing myself doing well on it. 😎
