I came across a qbank question that, in a nutshell, involved the police wanting to confirm a patient's alibi. No medical info involved, just that they'd been seeing you at the time in question. Answer: you can't even confirm the person is your patient without their OK. And yet, I seem to remember notifications up at hospitals I've worked at that list law enforcement (along with insurance, etc.) among entities that could get your info. Is that just covering Tarasoff and similar situations?
