If we type in the order "Counsel patient" on CCS, is that "enough" for the counseling component? or do we have to type counseling for every specific thing (smoking, EtOH, safe sex, etc).
Keep in mind that counseling like low sodium diet in a hypertensive is a good thing to do. The routine counseling stuff (seat belt, alcohol, smoking, etc) is less useful, especially in an ER case.
I would say to prioritize the meds and the follow up procedures before getting to the routine counseling, especially if you're on the 2 min screen.
