Pattern Folding Question

I see the answer that is marked correct. However, I don't see how this is the right answer. I watched the 3D fold and it still doesn't make sense. Any help?

Sorry for crappy editing but quick snipping.

So what I do every pattern folding is go from once choice to the next and eliminate 1 by 1.

First step is pick a side/pattern and match it between the answer choice and the unfolded piece.

So for A I chose the L shaped with white and dark shade. I highlighted it red and orange for you. Now i rotate that white side and connect it to the shaded strip and there you go. Answer is A.

B is wrong because it's on the wrong side and white part needs to be touching the shaded strip OR that dark shaded portion of the L shape should be revered with the white portion.

C is good except that square white on the right needs to be shaded. I highlighted it purple for you.

D is good except they switched the rectangles.
