pattern folding
Started by datdat
this is from KBB online question but I think the answer is strange and want to know how you guys think..
suggested answer is a but i think b is the answer
I think it is B as well
care to explain? i HATE pattern folding
I am not sure how I can explain pattern folding. I just picture it in my head. I am 99% sure its B.
whenever I come up with 'strange' figure,,,i just print them out and fold it.... and then try again in the head...They both look same to me 😕 lol i hate pattern folding too any trick for it somebody???
that's the way i did..
You can tell really quick just by looking at the staggered sides. B should be the right answer because the side with two short legs and long leg matches the pattern. In A, the side you can see with the one short middle leg and long end leg is the mirror image of the given template. Since you can only fold into the page and not out, A is wrong.
I am pretty sure it's A - the top L is positioned wrongly on B and right on A
I'm not quite sure how you're seeing it. The area you circled on B and the template both match exactly whereas on A it's backwards.

I folded "outward".. so I got A, but if you fold inwardly, you get B. I don't know whether there's a restriction of folding in or out though as I haven't actually practiced PAT yet... anyone want to point me to a source where it says you can only fold inward?

I agree with you ...B is right answer I think...

Yes you can only fold inward for DAT.....I have learned that in my Kaplan Classes

There's is a restriction - patterns are only ever folded into the page. Fold-out patterns are often given as wrong answer choices.
Defintely B for the exact reason I gave.
PAT - 30
-_-

theyre not the same, though similar. has to be b, becuase only way to get A is if you fold out of the screen, as opposed to into the screen like youre supposed to. Fold into the screen, you get B, fold out of the scree, you get A
you're supposed to fold inward (away from you). I can't fold the shape in my head, but if you look at the unfolded outline, you will notice that the L shaped flap is oriented correctly with the smaller "tooth", and that can be found in B, but not in A. That's the "trick" I use.
