yeah, i have an idea. instead of obama taxing my in-shape, resting-heart-rate-in-the-low-50's, blood-pressure-reading-120/80-on-a-bad-day, 30-to-35-mile-per-week running ass, take some of that rhetoric and money and instead tell those same fat, non-working, lazy-ass americans to whom he's pandering to lose some damn weight, stop smoking, and take better care of themselves. if that were the case, we wouldn't need healthcare reform.

so, how about obama puts his money where his mouth is and, instead of "taxing the rich", he just props himself up on his soapbox and says he's going to outlaw cigarettes and tax the f*ck outta mcdonalds. why not? because his political pandering ass knows that he lose about 90% of the people who might actually be stupid enough to vote for him and his stupid plan.

AMEN! I would love to get a politician in office that understood this, or i guess they all understand just know that they wouldn't get elected if they had the balls to say it....
maybe you should run?

maybe you should run?

haha! yeah, like i'd get elected. the number of people on this forum who already hate me should adequately demonstrate that i'm no politician.

no, the only way we're going to win this issue is if we ban together and refuse to continue to get bullied around by the bureaucrats and politicians who actually know extremely little about what it is we actually do on a day-to-day basis. part of that is going to be the difficult decision of putting certain patients on notice and refusing to continue to provide chronic care to those who are unwilling to take responsibility for their own self-created health problems... especially the ones who can't or are unwilling to pay for that care. we've got to get over this paternalistic notion in medicine, once and for all, that we are the ones primarily responsible for the health and well-being of our patients, and not those patients themselves.
