Hi guys,

I'm registering for the DAT right now with the plant to take it in late July. I went all the way to the $320 fee page, which gave me only a few minutes to put in my credit card info. This strikes me as strange. So I have to pay before I can even sign up for a test date? How often is the test offered and how widespread are the locations (US)? What if after I pay the $320, and I can't get a date in July or have to fly to Vermont for a test (from OR)? Can I sue them? 😀 So I imagine that after I pay the fee, I am given a link to Prometric to sign up for the test?

Thanks everyone.

make sure you're at the right link, i did not pay until all the way at the end when I already picked my location, date and time.

I thought this is not possible. Prometric asked me for the "eligibility ID" and "first 4 letters of last name". The eligibility ID gets sent to me after I pay the fee? How were you able to get around this? Which link did you go to? Thanks for your help.

You will be fine, there are tons of test dates and locations. This isn't like the MCAT where the testing center fills up and you have to go a hundred miles away.

I also paid before getting my date, it is normal.

Yes you pay before you set up a date. your application makes youeligible to take the test anytime within 1 year from the date they process your application.

they tell you the exact time frame you have to make an appointment. Even after making an appointment you can change if you like through prometric website/customer service, with a fee.

The test is administered at prometric centers through out hte country. you can take it any time you want. there is no set date. If you don't like center X because its facing the wrong way that's your decision. they(the ada) doesn't care where you take it or at what time or date. If you wish to fly cross country and take it 30 minutes after landing that's your decision.

you can go to the prometric website to see all their locations.

You will have to wait till you get and email from the ada with the eligibiity id. Its the weekend so you might have to wait till monday or so to get the email.
