Hey y'all, I'm doing my AAMC application right now and am designating my medical schools. Nearly all of them charge $150 up front for application processing! This is preposterously high compared to years before. Are they including the secondary application fees? What's going on?

NB,

You sure about this???

AMCAS charges $150 for the first, and $30 for everyone after that....

double check, maybe?

OH REALLY! DAMN, I DIDNT KNOW! I ADDED ONE SCHOOL THE LIST AND SAW $150, AND ASSUMED IT AS AN AVERAGE RATE. I THOUGHT THAT EACH WAS 100-150 OR SO, AND DIDNT KNOW ABOUT THE 30 DOLLAR RULE. THANKS.

Is your "Caps Lock" key stuck? 🙄

Now I suppose you feel like the application process is a great value. This is going to be like $600..

Better start saving those precious pennies now. It only gets worse. I don't know if costs for secondaries had gone up last year, but it was getting really pricey. I got to the point where I was deciding which secondaries to send based on how expensive they were. And don't forget about all of that travel for interviews. Plane fares, hotels, public transport. I'm still trying to pay off my credit card debt for all of those expenses before I start school in August. I think I'll barely make it. Good thing I'm working right now!

I bumped up <a href="http://forums.studentdoctor.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=006439" target="_blank">this old thread</a> for you on how much some SDNers spent last year.
