  1. Pre-Pharmacy
Hi, I got 2 Stafford-Sub loans from my community college and university. I'm done with all my pre-reqs last Fall 07 and have already been accepted to a pharm school. I am not planning to take any more classes until school starts in August this year and it is 8 mos from now. I'm worried that I'll have to start paying my loans after 6 mos not enrolled in school. Is there any way I can talk to anyone about this so that I won't have to make payments for my loans until 6 mos after I graduate in 2012?

Edit: the lender is Sallie Mae and I am not eligible for the loan deferments (I tried to apply for deferment online).

What should I do now? Enroll in some classes at CC?

Thx

Just contact the lender before the six months are up and ask for a hardship deferment it shouldn't be a problem. Some of them actually let you get the form online at their website. Be sure to do it before the six months are up are late fees will start building up!

Since you start Pharmacy School in August, you would most likely only have to pay on your loans for 2 months. Once school starts they will go back into deferment until you graduate. Congrats on getting into LECOM Bradenton! 👍I interviewed there in December and received my acceptance letter 3 weeks ago. 😀

Thanks for all of your advices.
rbaker321, congrats on your acceptance too! Do you think I should contact LECOM's Financial Aid office to get more information about this? Anyway, I will see you there in August!

No need to contact them. Sallie-Mae will be notified once you register for classes at LECOM. They will automatically defer your loan from your semester begin date until your anticipated graduation date.
