I'm not too sure how it works exactly. Is it like doing case studies in groups? Are there lectures still? What are your thoughts about it?

We have PBL here at Kentucky, and yes there are still lectures, and there are small group sessions.
The small group sessions are nice, because it is more of a discussion rather than a lecture, and you often come away with a better understanding after having the main points explained and asked about in a number of ways. (also it can be worse than lecture, if you end up with a bad moderator/preceptor, but usually it is very productive)
