PBL schools

When I interviewed at NYCOM, they told us all about their PBL deal. It seems pretty cool. However, they only take a limited number of students, and you have to "apply" and be "accepted" into it. I think this year is only their 2nd year doing it, if I remember correctly.

UMDNJ-SOM offers a PBL curriculum to a subset of students. In the past, PBL has been offered every 2 years since it is a 2-year program followed by rotations in years 3 & 4.
In addition, there are plans to shift the main curriculum toward one that incorporates some of the most useful aspects of the PBL curriculum. I don't know when the new curriculum will be implemented, but we should learn more in the coming months.

DMU has a PBL course for Biochemistry and it just started Thursday for us. I think it's going to be really cool. They say you "apply" for it but everyone get's accepted if you want to be in it.
On the 9-5 school thing, do many schools have that kind of schedule anymore? I love the schedule we have and it's not 9-5.

From 8-12 every morning, we are in lecture and in the afternoons, we have labs or other things (like elective classes). SO there's usually 1 day a week that I get out at noon, which allows me time to study. Also, if there is a big test the next day, we might get out around 10am so we can study. I just like that we get all the lectures out of the way in the morning and so you can study for them in the afternoon. The order of lectures changes almost everyday too which keeps it from getting boring.
