Can you guys give me some advantages to this type of curriculum? I'm more accustomed to having an organized set of readings and assignments, so it seems way different than what I am used to. I am concerned since I usually study on my own, and not sure whether it's the best fit for me.
Thanks in advance!

I'm in a pbl chemistry course right now, and it is horrible. We are required to answer a research question and present a 15 minute presenation integrating analyical chemistry and the answer of the question.

It's suppose to develop critical thinking skills, problem solving, etc.

you won't understand it until you've experienced it. sorry.. this i can say for certain.. I don't blame you for not understanding PBL if your whole undergraduate education has been based on a traditional model of learning.

there is literature that documents students' frustrations when first experiencing PBL. It's no secret that it takes a while for students to get acclimatized (hence I understand Dr.Reo's angst and can empathize with him).

I could try to explainwhat I think PBL is, but I don't think it will help you. Instead I will act as a faciltator and urge you to find the resources necessary in answering your question (i'd like to point you to OVID or a similar database). After you do this, you will have formally experienced something close to PBL. Finally, dont forget to come back, and talk with us about what you did.

So.... proceed my young sappling...

Haha... Ovid and I are great friends. Just used it today while researching root development post eruption and abscesses.

Very good Contach lol :meanie:
Yes, for a PBL experience, you shouldn't come here asking us to tell you the info. You need to become an expert on it and then come here and discuss it with us 😀
I had PBL classes before and that is how it was 👍
