Yeah, we're doing PC-only FISH for HER2 via neogenomics. I think it's working out very well- turn around time is 3-4 days after they receive the block, and doing the interp and creating the report is very... I won't say "easy" in case CMS is reading, but certainly doable for a pathologist of average proficiency. Neogenomics also provides pretty good customer service (we've had some snags, but overall, pretty good) and the option to convert a case to "global" (they do the interp and collect the PC) if it's too confusing.
I don't intend this as an advert for neogenomics, there may be other companies out there that do as good or better work. Just talkin' about our experience.
I'd like to see our group expand our FISH menu. I think we could easily do ALK testing. Testing for hematopoietic disease may be a bridge too far, but I'd like to try.
