Since the PCAT is evolving and becoming more difficult, should we get a PCAT Discussion Thread like the MCAT thread MD/ODs have? Just a thought.

yah...i took the pcat practice test yesterday, it didn't seem that hard....I think that they made it way too easy...it was like the sat's..but i hope the pcat won't be much harder...Ohh...yeah are we allowed any electronic devices at the pcat like a normal calculator? and what will be provided for us? is there a periodic table for the chemistry section? because i had to pull mine out to answer a couple questions?

? You may not take calculators (including watch calculators), books, papers, notes, cell phones, cameras, recording devices, or any reference materials into the testing room. You will be allowed to write in your Test Booklet.

From what I can tell they will give you a small part of it if they feel you need it for a particular question, but I do not believe there will be a full period table available.

They will provide any chart that a certain question may require at that particular question. I don't recall seeing a periodic table, but I don't think you'll need it. I doubt they'll be asking for the atomic weight of Tungsten or anything. 😉

PCAT is not really weighted all that heavily by most pharmacy schools because most of it is hardly relevant to pharmacy practice. Granted, if you fail the PCAT that is not a good indication of your overall fitness since it does not stress anything that is particularily difficult. If you are unable to complete the PCAT sample questions or find them difficult, then I would suggest putting some work into it, but otherwise don't sweat it.

It's just another way to compare/weed out applicants. Because it's becoming more and more competitive every year, I think it has some weight.

Also, how does it not have anything relevant to practice pharmacy? You need to at least know that information.
