Hi everyone:

I wrote my PCAT 3 days ago and I did really bad in my test. I studied so much for the test and I felt sooo ready for it but I ended up doing very poorly on the test. I used Dr. Colin’s, pearson and Kaplan (only for the bio section). In the test I found so many new bio questions (like new diseases and new words). And for the math section I found the questions too wordy and too confusing). What are your suggestions?

Do you guys think I should use another source for the bio section?

Thanks in advance.

I used Kaplan only, and for bio I scored a 46, but had a 56 composite. The passage problems and some of the diseases were challenging for me because I'm bad at the passages and I didn't think I'd need to know diseases all that much (Kaplan is so weak in that part anyway).
I'd definitely use a different source for bio, go back through the Collins bio section if you haven't already.
I'm retaking my exam in November and using collins this time around.

Yeah my results are similar to yours. But i did read Dr. Colin's packages carefully so i do not really know what else to study for the bio section.

I'm not sure. I only have experience with Kaplan thus far, so I don't know what you should do.

I only used Kaplan and got a 97th percentile on the PCAT. 86% Bio, 99% chemistry, 99% critical reading, 62% quantitative. IMO Kaplan is great for bio and chem but weak in critical reading and math especially. Go with Dr. Collins for the math. That seems to be a good resource, albeit expensive.

Thank you for your responce. Could you please tell me when you wrote the PCAT? Did you write the new version or the old version?

I just took the PCAT this summer, July 21 I think

I got a 97th percentile (98 - bio, 98- chem, 90-math, 82- reading)
I did ALL the Collins, KAPLAN, Pearson Exams and on top of that I used Crack the PCAT and Prep genie. Yes, it's a lot, but I think the more practice and exposure of different questions, the better prepared you are. I was able to get this score on my first time taking it, thanks to a lot of practice. I don't think there is anything else to do but practice practice practice!
Good luck!

That's a LOT of practice!! But practice makes perfect and congrats! I just don't know if I have time to practice that much while I'm taking classes and try to study for the pharm tech lol. But I do need my PCAT score pretty high so I guess that's what I have to do as well.

Congrats to you too!

Thank you, and good luck! It will be hard to manage but i will be doable, consistency is key, even if it is only 1 or 2 hours a day

Thanks! 🙂 was the PCAT pretty similar to the problems on the practice test?

Hi there,
I used Kaplan and Dr Collin's only and they were not enough.Do you you suggest using Crack the PCAT and Prep genie? I mean were Crack the PCAT and Prep genie very useful? I am rewriting the test in a month and I am not sure if i will have enough time to study Crack the PCAT and Prep genie. But if you think these 2 sources are very useful then I will study them.
Thanks in advance.

hmm really? I only used Dr. Collins and the pearson practice tests and i did great on bio (94) and overall (99).

I also skimmed through kaplan's bio section but overall didn't feel it helped me all that much. I'd say just pay more attention and try to truly understand collins bio, it is a bit deeper on the pcat, but still similar

I think they everything was useful ... nothing was the same as the test if that's what you're looking for, I thought that all the sources combined prepared me more for the exam as I was exposed to many different questions, and my speed was on answering the questions increased. I used PCAT flashcards (the little book) as well.
