Is there a difference between percentile and percentile rank?
Is it self explanatory that rank is a rank and percentile is percentile?
Someone?
The rank number is that 3 digit number from 400-600 and the percentile is well... the percentile, right?
No one really understands the "rank" system. I don't think I've yet seen anyone score remotely close to 600 (or even break 500, for that matter) and yet that still somehow translates into a 90%+ percentile. I got 440+ on my quantitative section and that turned out to be a 94%. Odd to say the least. But the percentiles are really what matters - your score in the subsection is compared against all the PCAT takers from the previous cycle (in 2007).

Really?
My scaled scores are in between 350-390, average about 75% if it is out of 480, but composite percentile rank is 2. It does not make sense to me 😱. at least it is 50% for 600 what do you think of that. it must have been a tough version of the exam.

you shouldn't even apply to be a pharmacist
your ignorance is astounding.
firstly, you haven't taken stats, or failed it miserably as you don't know the difference between percentile and scores.
scoring a 2 percentile means 97% of the people who took the test had a better score than you (97 as max pcat score is 99)
percentile is not percent.
secondly, you claim you got a "hard" version of the test...
COME ON.
if you scored 2 percentile, what makes you think you'll score 80+ on another version

even if you had 1 or 2 350 scores, your composite score would still be mediocre, but because you consistently suck across all sections is why you got such a low composite score.
oh yea, this is coming from a guy who scored 97 comp and an accepted pharm student
I feel a ban coming...you shouldn't even apply to be a pharmacist

It looks like he/she just registered to post that one thing. I think they should check the IP against the existing members of this forum and ban that member 😉
It was completely uncalled for 😡

Cancellation of Scores Due to Questionable Score Gain
If the Composite scaled score and percentile rank on the most recent test are 50 or more points greater than the previous test Composite scores, an invalidation of the most recent test scores, including the Writing scores, automatically occurs due to the large score gain.
I am pragmatic.
Some people can't be pharmacists.
You're parents/teachers/commercials lied when they say "As long as you try, you can be X, Y, or Z"
Even the PCAT people don't think its possible for someone to gain 50 points within 13 months, let alone a gain of 78 (for a competitive 80 score).
Would any of you go to a pharmacy knowing that the pharmacist scored 2 percentile on the PCAT?
I didn't think so.

My percentile RANK was 2 as a composite, not the percentile in itself.
Question that I began was IS THERE A difference between PERCENTILE AND PERCENTILE RANK???

THanks
I sort of got the answer, but it is still not clear though from the link.

Since you are the expert on who should and should not be a pharmacist, you should know that good pharmacists are able to communicate in error-free English.I am pragmatic.

YOU'RE is a contraction of the words YOU ARE. When using the possessive pronoun, it should be YOUR. Your verb tenses should agree in sentences (They LIED when they SAID), and IT'S is the contraction of IT IS that should be used when saying "It's possible." ITS possible is wrong.
"Remove the log from your eye before removing the speck from your brother's eye." This is coming from someone who scored a 98 composite on the PCAT.
VITAL PHARMACIST SKILLS must include perceptiveness, or "perceptiveness is a vital pharmacist skill."2) Its called an edit button. Surely, a vital pharmacist skill must include perceptiveness.![]()
Tsk, tsk. Learning from one's mistakes is also an important skill it would behoove the future pharmacist to master. IT IS (or IT'S) called an edit button.
You do know, of course, that you are on the fast track to being banned. But don't worry. I believe your banishment will do everyone a favor, including yourself.

Oh, and the first sentence in your favorite encyclopedia entry says
"The standard response of the functionally illiterate when taken to task for their sins against the mother tongue is to label the offending party a Grammar Nazi."
Since you're not so subtly applying the label of Grammar Nazi to me, I believe I can conclude that you're the functionally illiterate party. Thanks for clearing that up.
