I am debating between taking my PCAT in August or October. I will be taking calculus, Anat. & phys. 2, and physics in the fall. Should I wait til October and take it after I have had those classes. Or should I take it in August while I have time to study the review books out there.

Since schools will take your high score, it is best to take it in August. If you don't do well, at least you will know what to expect for the next time.

this really depend on when you feel more comfortable or more confident.

every people have different level, so they need diff time to prepare. for me, i finished the kaplan book in June(used 2 weeks), but at that time i still need to improve my verbal (I'm an international student), so i spend the rest on verbal (1h per day) till around 1 week before Oct exam. i redo the kaplan book one more time in the one week to get fresh memory

kaplan is the only book i used and i'm 99% confident with the stuff inside, i get 95% total in exam.

i highly recommend you do the pratice test ahead of time,so you know what is covered in the test. kaplan book does not cover some area in the test (i only did the practice one night before, so i missed some questions on the test just because i did not know the coverage)

hope it helps, good luck🙂

i am taking the pcat for the first time in august...i will probably take it in october as well since august will be my first time

in my opinion, you should take it in august, or august as well as october (incase you don't do so well). the quicker you take the test, the quicker you can send it to schools...it's important especially for the rolling admissions schools you will be applying to (i'm assuming you're applying to a coupla rolling admissions schools)

The small amount of A&PII will not make or break you. Additionally, physics won't be on the PCAT, so don't worry about it. However, calculus is a large portion of the math test. Seeing as the fall semester won't be over by the time either test takes place, your best bet is to self-learn, get a tutor, or have someone show you the ropes.

Focus on concepts and you should be fine. DO NOT MEMORIZE.

My friend told me that the Kaplan book chemistry section covers too much information. Do you agree. I thought that it would be better if it covered too much instead of not enough. Is there a book better than Kaplan and closer to the pcat?

I do agree that the Kaplan book practice tests seemed to be harder than the real thing. I NEVER made it through one of the Kaplan tests in the time allotted, but I had no problem with the time on the real test and got a 99 on chemistry section. But, I am glad that I used Kaplan for exactly the point you mention above - better to have a bit too much than not enough. Just remember that the actual test will require less computation than Kaplan - more concept questions.
