I was accepted to PCO in October and was told I would be getting a North Carolina contract seat. Other than in my acceptance letter where it said "NC monies will be applied," I have not heard any other information about it. I want to be 100% sure that I am getting the money I am supposed to be getting, but I can't find anyone at PCO who knows how to help me. I left a message earlier this week for the person in charge of state seats, but he never called me back 🙁 Anyone else get a state seat at PCO and get something more?

i would wait it out. I called them regarding my file and they took forever to respond but they still did. It seems to me that they are not hte most organized. They will probably get back to you

when i called them in the summer and i seriously needed to get a hold of them i seriuosly called them each hour but never left a msg and finally got someone- ppl are usua in their office bw 9 and 11 for sure and after 2 to 3:30

make sure you got the time difference checked and ask the secretary if they know when this person is in

try emailing them because that was the fastest way i got an answer seriously

hey SarahNC, did you apply for this contract seat or how did u get it? I'm also located in NC, and I was told there is some kind of tuition reduction, but when I asked about it, they said the reduction only applies if u plan on coming back to NC to work.

See, thats what I am confused about. They said the contract seats go to the first X number of students accepted from that state. There is supposed to be some kind of contract with North Carolina, I assume, since you do have to repay the loan with interest if you do not come back to NC to work for 4 years. This is new this year. Last year, you did not have to come back to NC to get the money, so nobody knows what is going on. Its a lot of money, $13000 per year from NC.

I have a NC seat for UAB. I would think that if it says NC monies applied then you shouldn't have a problem. Also, I would think that most of their focus right now is on admissions.

I just talked to a guy this week who is the consultant on the contracts for NC and he said that they did just change it this year to where you do have to come back to NC. For each year worked in NC one year of loans will be dropped. This must be completed within 10 years.

Most schools I talked to said that there was no separate application pool for these seats, just the first ones from those states to get accepted get them, so if you have a 3.0 GPA and 300 OAT and get accepted in October and someone else has a 4.0 and 400 OAT in February, you will get the spot and not them probably... APPLY EARLY!

This is a website stating the changes:

Sorry if that doesn't help.
