I got back my PCOA test today and I got a few questions. I was wondering if anybody else took them. It says that 3653 students took the exam. Does this mean that nationwide, there are 3653 pharmacy students in my class?

We were told that approx 20 schools were chosen. Each Class (by year) sat the exam - and that is how grades were broken down.

I just got my results earlier this week. I was kinda deflated. I did well above the national average... but not nearly as well as I had thought.

I am graduating soon and i did poorly. This has deflated my confidence quite a bit. I did well on clinical science and basic biomed science. However Social/behavioral/administrative pulled me down drastically (ranked 10 percent there). . .

I know for my year, the test was culmative of everything i learned since day 1. How avout yours?

Funny thing. . . a good friend of mines got a zero on ethics. . . haha

We got the results back last week too, but I didn't even go get mine back yet. I thought the exam was easy. It had a lot of communication/ethic questions and not a lot of drug questions. Now I'm interested in seeing what I got.

I wouldn't stress too much... Think of it this way - you now have a pretty accurate guide of what you need to study / practice before you sit the Naplex.

What is PCOA?

A quasi practice NAPLEX - that is not very true because it is paper, and cannot adapt to your weaknesses.

It was meant to provide a baseline from which schools could evaluate progress. I think it was a good idea - but it would have been a lot better if it was adaptive.

Aaaah our school did that but I didn't take it.

Isn't this how it should be? Where I'm from, high schoolers take exams that test all they've learned since the first year of senior secondary school (everything from grades 10-12). And to get into senior secondary school, they take a test on everything they learned since the first year of junior secondary school (everything from grades 7-9).

I am at Palm Beach Atlantic and I took the test last Spring as a P1 student. The test is the same for all students taking the exam including P2-4 students. I'm sure theres some order differences or something to prevent cheating, but in general they are no different. I just got my results back today and I did pretty well overall...It kinda makes me think really how close is this thing can be to the real thing...

I also got a zero on ethics...did pretty darn good on the rest of the thing, though. I can't remember any of the ethics questions, there can't have been more than a few.

I am taking PCOA exam next Friday. I am wondering how did you guys prepare to take this exam? I ordered NAPLEX books, do you just review all the materials you learned from P1? I am a P1 student. ALso, do any of you know what kind of questions do they ask?

I took mine today. Zero prep, rolled out of bed into the room to take the test. It felt fan-freakin'-tastic to finish without any inclination to go back and check my work.

I am taking mine tomorrow evening. I too am just gonna go into in with no preparation whatsoever.

I don't think my school is sitting the exam this year... kind of strange - I thought it was meant to judge the school's progress - I guess not 😕

We take it at the end of the P3 year at Creighton.
