Just got word that I'm an alternate at PCOM. Any advice from current PCOM students, PCOM grads, or others? Should I call them to ask about the length of list or the timing? Or should I just wait patiently?
i am not at pcom but i turned them down..i suggest writing them a thank you notice and reiterating your reasons for you very great interest in pcom..phone calls will get you tossed off the list b/c who really wants to be annoyed by a paranoid premed? letters go in your file and when they go back and review it, anything you forgot to tell them that is great about you is in your file in your thank you letter..get cracking..
I'm a second year at PCOM, and I agree that your best bet is to write a thank you letter and emphasize why you want to go to PCOM. I know its tough not knowing, but there is nothing to do now but wait.
What's the etiquette of calling the school to see if there is movement on the waiting list? Can you call once a month without appearing to be obnoxious?
Has anyone on PCOM's Alternate List received an acceptance yet?
You can probably call once or twice over the summer without being annoying, although I found that they would not give any information other than to tell you that you are still on the list. Also write a letter as indicated in previous posts. Send any transcript updates - especially if they are a heplful addition to your file ( if they are ugly hold onto them until asked to submit them) Don't give up hope - I was received my acceptance mid July last year.
Thanks, Linda. I'm glad to hear that acceptances do arrive in mid-July. I've sent my letter to PCOM and an updated transcript with my latest summer course is going in the mail at the end of the week. I guess I'll call PCOM in a week or so to check on the Alternate List activity.
As the song says, "The waiting is the hardest part."
one more thing - at this time last year I was also debating about reapplying. I decided to risk it and was lucky ( I was wait listed at three schools) This is something you should be thinking about, if you decide to reapply DO IT NOW.
Thanks, Linda. My AACOMAS app. is going out today or tomorrow. Do you think it is advisable to tell PCOM that I am reapplying? Would they view this as a sign of commitment?
What's your opinion?
Also, is there anyone on this year's PCOM Alternates List who has received an acceptance?
