Does anyone know how attending a new DO program affects your ability to match residencies? I have been accepted to LECOM-Erie and LECOM-Bradenton and hopefully to PCOM-GA ( I will know on Monday/Tues and I interveiwed on 1/12) and have to put money down on LECOM-Erie by Feb 2 if I want to go there. I'm basically trying to decide between LECOM-Erie and PCOM-GA (if I get in). I really liked both programs and just want to make sure that residency programs aren't going to be hesitant to match with me because the school has only been fully accredited for a year. I'd really appreciate any thoughts on the subject!!

Just out of curiosity, what made you rank LECOM above LECOM-FL? Sorry I cant answer your question about residency, but i feel that PCOM-GA is going to be very well established, and have strong residency placement.

I just wasn't sure that the PBL program was the best learning style for me. At LECOM-Erie I had a choice to do the traditional lecture based program. Florida was also a little too far south for me. Although year round warm weather and sun sounds great, I do like snow from time to time 🙂

It seems to me that programs located outside of major cities have been well-respected in the DO world(NYCOM, PCOM, OK city, etc.)

PCOM-Ga is outside of Atlanta and is under the PCOM system.

No worries mate.
