I am considering applying to Post Bacc program at PCOM-GA. How many students students make it to MD and DO schools after doing this program successfully i.e. GPA>3.0 I have heard professors are friendly and always willing to help.

Im in my first year of the program.

Faculty is great. They are really helpful and will bend over backwards for us. Class size has grown this year to about 75 people. And the program has a pretty good success rate at putting people into MD/DO/DMD and such. Classes are tough but not impossible. It basically comes down to if you want to succeed and get into your desired professional school of choice, you have to work hard for it.

Also, what are your stats? Depending on what your grades/scores are you may want to consider doing both years.

I am near 2.9 with MCAT 25. I am looking for a two year master program. I guess doing well for two years and earning a master degree in Biomedical can open other venues also in the job market if medicine does not work out. With low GPA, I guess that is the only choice I have.

What are the stats of guys who make it to a med school after finishing this program. I am more interested to know what kind of GPA they had in program etc than their undergrad GPA?

Keep your gpa above a 3.5 at the program. Thats what they keep telling us. Im not too good on the stats of people getting into desired programs. i want to say around 75% but dont take my word on that.

Your gpa isnt terrible. A lot of us in the program have much worse than that. But yes, keep your gpa as high as you can. And yes they have people from the cdc and other places come and talk to us about careers in the biomedical science field. So having the degree does help a lot even if you dont get into med school.

You mean 75% of students get 3.5 or above and make it to med school?

It is encouraging though to know employers like CDC visit and give talks, so there is a market value to the degree if one can not make to Med School.

Hey guys, is the MCAT needed to apply to the PCOMs post-bacc here or in PA? Im scheduled to take the exam on Jan 28th, but wanted to submit my app now before the influx of applications!

You can apply now and they will put on hold till your MCAT scores are got. Also, GRE can help if GPA is good. In my case with low GPA, I decided to take MCAT, why waste money on GRE? I still need to improve my MCAT.

MCAT/GRE/DAT theyll take any. I know some people didnt take their MCAT/DAT and opted for the GRE because they were worried about not having a good score and how it could affect them.

And they said 75% or something like that make it into their desired program. So take that for what its worth. All I can say is if you come here, be prepared to study. Its not going to blow your mind but you will be devoting a good amount of time to the program. Give it your all and keep your grades up and it wont matter what the % accepted is, if you stay at the top of the class you will do just fine and get where you want.

You are not obligated to do both years. At the end of 2nd term they will make you fill out a form if you decide on staying for a 2nd year to complete a masters. But a good chunk from my class this year are starting professional school after a year of biomed certification.
