I know this topic has been brought up before, but why does't PCOM send out postcards regarding complete/incomplete secondaries? I just called and they gave me a list of things I was missing. I asked them to check and voila, those things were there in their hands, but apparently my application has been sitting there "incomplete" because someone in admissions did not thoroughly look to see if my info was there. All I can say is, NOT IMPRESSED.

Why didnt you ask them on the phone?

I've noticed this problem with other schools. They would save a lot of calls if they did their job correct in the first place.

I had this same issue with PCOM-PA, however, I was one of those nagging people who kept calling to make sure I was complete. SO when I found out that I wasn't after I had sent them my letters like a month previous, I sent them again and then of course the lady called me back the day after I had sent them again and told me she had "found" them. They actually had them, they just hadn't entered them into their computer system for some reason. Basically someone just didn't enter the info into the computer and instead of physically checking when I was shocked to find out that my letters weren't there after a month, the lady just didn't do anything. Uggg, I wasn't impressed with PCOM-PA's admissions either.

I applied to about 15 schools, I think only one took the time to let me know (email) my file was complete. This is not an issue of PCOM only.

Lecom-PA was the only school that updated me via mail. It was not that helpful since I would confirm that they received something by phone. 2 weeks later I get a postcard stating they did not have it and then I call again to reconfirm and find that they do have it and there was a mistake on the postcard. Something like that.

Same with me....I never recieved anything in the mail from any school I applied to saying I was complete. I just called PCOM regarding my status as soon as my letters were mailed out. (I didnt call months later) Smooth sailing after that. 👍

One of the schools I applied to "lost" one of my letters for a couple months, which *perhaps* pushed me to a lower spot in the pile and affected my chances. (Out of seven schools, it was the only one which didn't offer an interview). It sucks, but I can't say that I really expect anything different. We're "customers" by necessity, not by choice, and like any business that knows it has its customers by the balls, stellar service and customer satisfaction is just not that important. I guess the lesson is it's better to call and risk being a pain than to wait patiently next to the mailbox, never knowing that your "complete" app is still actually listed as incomplete.

Ha, Ive given up on PCOM. I was complete there back in November. I called them and they confirmed this. I have a 29 MCAT and a 3.65 GPA and i heard nothing from them. Oh well, I dont care anymore.

Ditto 👍

Oh, what I meant in my above post was that I had called previously and had been told that I was complete at 2 weeks after sending my letters......then I called back 2 weeks after that to check on the status of my application (seeing if they would tell me if I was being reviewed or just stuck in some pile somewhere) and it was then that they told me I wasn't complete. Which shocked me because I was "complete" two weeks earlier. I certainly didn't expect anyone to update me on my status.....second go round for me, I knew better than that. 🙂 I was actually surprised when LECOM-Erie and LECOM-FL sent me application complete stuff in the mail.

I completely agree. The adcom reps are arrogant bastards without any interest or time to speak with applicants. Each time, they are rude, brush me off, and leave me feeling like im in poist-coital neglect. This strongly influences my opinion about them. I felt I was a strong candidate and they brushed me off.. they are probably losing a lot of well-qualified applicants like this.

I'm in the same boat with PCOM-Philly. Ah well, I may just reapply next cycle.

In my application process, LECOM-Erie was the only school that actually snail-mailed a confirmation of exactly what they had received and that I was complete. I think one or two other schools did this via the web or email. It would save them a lot of time/money in phone calls if they just did this as a default policy.

I e-mailed PCOM multiple times, and the answered my question every time.

Yea, I didn't have a good experience with them as well. Was complete for nearly a month there before I called and had to point it out to them. Oh well, I'm not going there anyways. At least they aren't as bad as LECOM-FL. They send me a card saying I'm complete...a month later, I call and didn't "realize" that I was complete. WVSOM and PSCOM had the best admission's people in my opinion.

I gave up on PCOMa long time ago too.... maybe they lost my app., who knows. 3.56cum 27M MCAT and multiple acceptances. I sent my stuff in back in august and i was complete everywhere by OCT 1.

Out of the 13 schools I applied to only PCOM and University of Vermont (allo) have sent no response/decision. Too late now. Im over it.

what day (or date) last week did u recieve this interview invite? i would really like to know. thanx.

Are you guys talking about the Philly campus or Georgia??

PCOM gets the highest number of applications of any osteo school. Stuff tends to get lost in the flood if you don't call them all the time. I called several times a week just to keep things moving along and I was accepted in early October (of 2004). If you stay on top of things you will get rewarded. You just have to be willing to take responsibility for your applications and not trust secretaries to do everything. In an ideal world you wouldn't have to do this, but in reality there are enough applicants (like me) who are willing to call every day that people who are not aggressive enough get screwed. In the end PCOM is totally worth it. I love it!

That is just what I did and it paid off 👍

I only called once. I think that mistakes happen at every school so no one is immune to it. You just happen to find this out.

Yep...dont just wait. I called so much...the secretary probably thought I was harassing her.

In the same boat...after I called to check on my application (since they don't let you know anything), to my surprise, they told me my file was incomplete b/c I did not have a letter from my degree-granting undergrad institution (which I think is purposeless, since my composite letter from my post-bacc. institution consist of 2 letters from faculty at my undergrad institution). If they had let me know my file was incomplete, I could have tried to get a letter from my undergrad before the deadline of March 15th. 😡 😡 😡

You are right...they really should let you know what is going on. You are certainly paying them enough money in the application fee to be entitled to a little information from them. Just call lots and show lots of interest. Get them to know you by name.

I love you. 🙂
