Pcom Post Bac Biomedical Science 2014-2015

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think I'll be applying for it.. I just don't have an idea of what to do about the personal statement.
Did you write up a full page or just the brief "Please state briefly why you are applying to this program, what you expect to gain from the program and what you consider to be your long-term goals"?

I wrote almost a full page

I haven't received any correspondence from PCOM regarding the application... I submitted it through their portal.
What'd you guys write for the statement?

I was accepted to both but I'm still waiting to hear back from some DO programs I've applied to. I've recieved secondaries from several masters programs but I'm not sure if I should pick one that is affiliated with a med school. So far I've received masters acceptances from barry, usf, pcom, mississippi college. Does anyone know if PCOM, VCOM, TOURO, lincoln memorial offer just interviews or automatic acceptances to their med school for their SMP students that perform well in their program.

I'm a little confused with this part of the app. Did you leave the "Please state briefly.." part blank and just sent in the one page essay directly to the Office of Admissions? Or did you put it directly into that box?

PCOM guarantees an interview for their biomed students which can be anytime between Fall through Winter term but won't make a decision on your file until they receive both your Fall and Winter term grades (March). There are no automatic acceptances since this is not a linkage program.

I put it directly in the box

So I am (finally) sending out requests to my recommendation letter writers and I wanted to verify if the letters are submitted online or via mail.

Hi everybody, I haven't seen any threads for this upcoming year. I applied for Ga-Pcom. Has anyone else applied for either campus?
I applied and received my admissions have you received any word?

Applied a couple weeks ago (Philadelphia campus). I'd appreciate any feedback on my chances: 3.41 cGPA, 3.16 sGPA, 24 MCAT. Great recs and a good amount of medical experience.

I just submitted my application this week (GA campus) 3.26 cGPA, 3.1 sGPA, and high GRE scores (not taking the MCAT until later - so I'm applying with GRE instead). I know I am pretty late in applying... however, the admissions director told me that they still have 40 out of 70 seats available (GA). Anyone been accepted to the GA program that wouldn't mind divulging their stats?

I received my acceptance today to the Philly campus. I applied at the beginning of March, and I have a 3.1s, 3.5c, and 24 MCAT (retaking this month) with good LORs/ECs. Good luck everyone! I'm sure you all have a great chance getting in!

Anyone who applied in this program trying to do dentistry? I applied and got in to the PA location.

Hello everyone: I'm seriously considering applying to the Biomedical Sciences program at PCOM-GA, but I'm not interested in going to medical school. Does anyone know what type of work/jobs I can do with a Masters in Biomedical Sciences? I'm currently a Chemist, with a BS degree in Chemistry, minor Math. I'm more interested in the "biological side of Chemistry," if that makes sense, so that it why I'm interested in this program. Thanks in advance.

I got in exactly a week after I was told my application was complete if people are curious about timing.

I just received my acceptance to the GA campus as well! Is there a facebook group yet? I haven't been able to find one.

Acceptance letter received yesterday, one week after completed app. Can't wait for August!! 🙂

Has anyone received any sort of acceptance packet after getting the letter, or know of when we will?

Could someone give me an idea of how long their personal essay was for the program? I met with Dr. Matayoshi, the program director for Ga-PCOM, and he said to be as detailed as possible.

Is there a facebook group for the PA-PCOM Biomeds 2014-2015 class? I can't find one. I have not yet received my packet in the mail with housing info etc, and I'm getting nervous about finding apartments and roomates in time! If someone has a link to an existing facebook group for the PA-PCOM class please post the link!

Just got accepted this week to the Ga program! Everyone is right, I got my letter in the mail exactly a week after my application was marked complete.

How do we get invited to the Facebook group?

I think you have to request an acceptance on the page. My essay was like 5 sentences... see you in the GA 2014 biomed!

Hey everyone!

I finally got in!!!! SOOO excited....finally got some good news in my life lol. Like everyone else, I heard back a week after my app was complete. Congrats to those of us who got in!!!

Hey! A huge congratulations to everyone entering this Fall! I just joined SDN to find fellow Biomed classmates. Message me if you're going to PA-PCOM so that we can connect on facebook! 😀

Hello I got accepted into PCOM PostBac Program for the 2014-2015 school year. Anybody have an idea how the living situation is? Do we just have to find our own place near the school?

Hey there, Eeyore! 🙂 Congratulations! Yeah, I went through the same thoughts. There's no on-campus housing, so we have to look for our own places. If you ask, they'll probably direct you to the Nucleus, the "student portal" where you can see the student housing board.

Oh I was also wondering about financial aid is it too late to apply? I kind of got my acceptance past the due date of when FAFSA was supposed to be turned it. I've never applied for student loans before so excuse this n00b
