Has anyone had any issues with your application being marked complete? I sent in an email a month ago asking if they had gotten my reference letters and they said yes my application was complete, then I just got an email today saying that my application won't be complete until they receive a reference letter...I thought I would be getting the decision any day now but it seems like I'm going to have to wait a few more weeks.

Hi Turkelton. You need to call and chase them about it. I went through the exact situation as yours. Your app is not complete until you receive an official email saying it is complete and ready to be review. It is possible they have your letter but they have not uploaded it to the system. If you cannot reach PCOM-GAs admission, PCOM-PA can help you as well. It is a really hectic time for admissions so overlooking an item is common. Call them!🙂

Thanks! Actually just got the email that my app is now complete, no mention of the delay:laugh:

I actually only applied to the Philly program, thinking about applying to GA too as I'm not too optimistic about my chances at philly.

Who did you email?

Does this program have any sort of linkage with either of the DO campuses? Or is it complete the program and then you're on your own to apply via AACOMAS?

I think if you meet a certain grade & mcat they will interview you in march.

also, read the last paragraph of this post for the success rate into pcom. I don't know how accurate that is.

I have a question that i cant seem to find the answer to on this site. Im from DC and i plan on moving out to the area for school but im confused on how the loans work. When i apply and get into an apartment am i suppose to pay out of pocket for the first two months since they don't disburse any money until school starts. They say the best time to move into an apartment is around may or early june because after that the rent increases because its a big time for moving. if anyone can answer this for me it would be greatly appreciated.

I know I'm not helpful at all Neonat, but I wanted to find out if you were accepted into PCOM MSBS or are you just moving in anticipation of going to school in the area?

I spoke with the admissions assistant and was told that they started re-reviewing the applications from people that was put on the waiting list last week and sing as they haven't even filled up 1/3 of the class yet so it looks like i have a good chance of getting in she said i should know something in the next few weeks. but i wanted to get everything together as far as my move is concerned because every thread i read says you need to move in by june because after that the rent goes up

Oh ok. Yeah it seems like PCOM pulls people off the wait-list up until the last second.

Hopefully you'll hear about your decision soon and someone will advise you about housing. I would think you'd have to pay out of pocket for those two months if it's before loan money is dispersed but I'm just guessing.

I found this blog made for last year's Biomed students: http://biomedventures.blogspot.com/?m=1

Maybe you can also direct a couple questions their way. I believe one person provided their e-mail.

I want to take the MCAT and finish a few more classes before applying. I've just been lurking on this thread and reading past threads. Haven't applied yet but I'm definitely gonna apply next cycle. I went to an open house around this time last year and it seems like a great program -- it's also in my hometown so it's my first pick.

Good luck

Yea this has been my first choice since i met one of the recruiters at a confrence i presented at about two years ago. this school is no where near me but im willing to travel and move out of my comfort zone to b there....good luck with your application process for the next cycle

Just received the letter today! GPA cumulative 3.1, science 2.9, MCAT 33Q. I'm very excited to start the program with you all this August! Good luck to those still waiting to hear back. 🙂

Is there a facebook group for 2013-2014?

Congrats Domer! Will you be attending the Philly or GA campus? Also how long did it take you to hear back?

Congrats domer13! I'll see you in August. I asked about the facebook group a while ago as well. Not sure if PCOM makes it or not.

I just got a letter saying they were gonna wait till they get my second semester grades before making a decision. Does anyone know if this is just a courtesy instead of an outright rejection? My grades this semester are close to a 4.0 but my cgpa is still quite a bit below their average so I'm wondering if they take a lot of people who they put on hold? Is this the same as getting waitlisted basically?

DrTurk, I think it just sounds like a notification that they think your file would be more complete package if they had your second semester grades to look at-- so I guess you could call it a courtesy as opposed to an outright rejection. I'm gathering that people who are on hold or wait-listed are probably in the same boat as far as their chances.

I am currently trying to decide between LECOM and PCOM postbacs. Ive read through many if not all of the previous PCOM postbac threads and I still dont think I have enough information to make a decision. Could any current or previous PCOM postbacs discuss the chances of getting into PCOM after the completion of the program? I just dont want to be stuck afterwords not getting into a school whereas I could have had an acceptance through LECOM's postbac.

All components to my application have been submitted. I'm awaiting the status update, which is taking forever. I applied to both the GA and the PA campuses. Has anyone received any admissions decisions recently?

No...I am also waiting on a decision!

So am applying to this program and am actually confused about how you send in your personal letter, and if anyone has an idea about how many letters of recommendations are needed.

Not sure about the personal statement portion but as far as LORs, this is from PCOM's website: One letter of recommendation from the pre-professional advisor/committee or a science faculty member of the applicant's undergraduate institution.

I assume you can probably send in more.

Hey thanks for the reply. I am assuming am already late for the application cycle but Am still going to send in my stuff. Am also taking the MCAT on june 20th so hopefully that makes they can wait for my score. Did you apply yet or did you get into the program yet?? And btw am also an AA struggling to get into med school.

You're pretty late in the game but it seems like they fill spots up until the last second in this program. It's worth a try if you think you have a pretty good chance.

I plan on applying in 2014 after I've taken MCAT in January. I've just been lurking in this thread and previous PCOM threads till then. I think applying early is best for me as my stats are a bit below their average, so I'm trying to have all my ducks in a row .

Hang in there, Kam.

For the Activities section, did you guys explain the activities like you would in a resume or just list them? Many thanks for any responses!

Wondering about this as well. The formatting makes it seem like you would just list them. How much detail did you provide? Also, it says "briefly describe" for the personal statement. How long do you think this should be?

Hi all. Is anyone going to revise their PS or just use the same one that they submit for the postbac?

Hey everyone! I just got accepted to GA-PCOM's biomedical sciences program, and I'm really excited! 🙂 Who on this thread is going to be at the GA campus this fall? And does anyone want me to start a Facebook group? I haven't been able to find one for the 2013-2014 biomedical sciences program yet.

Accepted into the philly program. Anyone know good places to live for relatively cheap or looking for roomates? Male, 21

Congrats inScrubs! I'll see you there. A few friends from my undergrad and I found a place in Roxborough called Henry on the Park. They're relatively cheap and very large/nice for the price. Also very easy to work with in terms of setting up the lease.

Has anyone who had their app placed on hold heard back yet?

I got a letter today saying that I have been placed on the wait list. Does anyone know how quick the wait list moves?

Congrats wertzc! Did you receive your acceptance to GA-PCOM by e-mail or snail mail?

I have been accepted as well but having trouble deciding between LECOM, LMU, and GA-PCOM. Which one gives you the best opportunity to transition into medical school directly after completing the program? I heard GA-PCOM requires a 3.5 gpa in the post bac for an acceptance into the DO school even though they will interview you with a 3.0/24MCAT

I spoke to an admissions officer the other day who said that you had to have a 3.2 GPA in the GA-PCOM postbac program to get into their med school. Did you get your acceptance to GA-PCOM by e-mail or snail mail?

What about the MCAT requirement? I heard 3.3 from one person and 3.5 from another person all within PCOM-GA.

I got it via e-mail and they said that it's coming via snail mail as well.

Hi everyone!

My name is Jorge. I'll be attending PCOM for the MBS program in August. I've wanted to see if anyone is looking for a roommate. My friend graduated from PCOM. He told me the best apartments are Duffield (0.5 miles away from campus). I've been there as well. It's a very nice building.

I'll tell you a bit about me. I'm going to school just to study. I'll be keeping the partying to a minimum. I'm responsible, clean, and honest. I'm respectful towards others. I'm easy going. I might be taking my car, but not quite sure yet.

If you are interested in talking about this further, please let me know. We should try to have something set up by the end of June before prices go up.

Hope to hear from people! Congratulations in your acceptance!

Best,

Jorge

Perhaps the admissions officer told me the GPA I need to get to be competitive with respect to my other stats. So, maybe for someone else it would be different. I mean we should all know that getting into med school is not an exact science.

I was recently accepted as well. Looking forward to seeing you guys at the GA campus 🙂

Thanks, mms7891! I received my acceptance by snail mail last week and just got an email about it today. When did they tell you your application was complete?

wertzc, my application was complete May 9. I got an acceptance to PCOM-PA early last week, but still haven't heard from PCOM-GA. The wait is just killing me...

Congratulations to all recent acceptances!

Has anyone here gotten in with a GRE section below the 50th percentile mark?

Has anyone heard if they started to take people off the wait list or has anyone received acceptances? Thanks!

Not yet - I had all my materials in and LORs received on June 5th...but was told today they are still processing and haven't reviewed my app yet. I'll most likely call back later this week if I don't receive an 'application complete' email from them as other posters on this thread have said they did.

Hello,

First post here, although I've been lurking on and off for a while. I found out today that I was accepted into PCOM's Biomed program. I am excited for the opportunity and would love to know others' experiences with the program.
