First, I am very happy to have all these options available to me currently.

I would love for people to give me a detailed run-down on their opinions for these schools because I had these offers come in all at once the past month and did not have enough time to make an official decision yet. I would like to pursue anesthesiology/radiology if that gives any more insight into which school I should consider.

PCOM (South Georgia Campus):
Pros:

  • Ideal location of the state that I would not mind doing residency in
  • More established
  • Solid match list
  • No longer mandatory attendance for lectures
  • Good match list with university-affiliated programs and boasts a high match rate annually
  • Small class size
Cons:
  • Different state from where I live so I would be a bit farther away from family (I am from FL)
  • Letter grading
  • No clue about research opportunities (please fill me on details if you attend here)
  • The pass rates were weird/off one year (would love for someone to fill me in on that too)

NSU-KPCOM (Clearwater):
Pros:

  • Strong match list this year and prior few years and showing improvement in pass rates
  • Close to home (an hour away)
  • Have friends that are M2 and M3 here
  • FL is where I would love to do residency in
  • Potential research opportunities that are scattered about

Cons:
  • Apparently has unfriendly administration
  • Larger class size than PCOM
  • Has a history of off-putting things about it such as toxic residency locations, rotation sites, etc. (might have improved now, not sure)

LMU-DCOM (Knoxville):
Pros:

  • Good match list this year
  • Accreditation with exceptional outcome
  • Students seem friendly and helpful

Cons:
  • Fired a dean before for a relatively petty political reason
  • Weak academics (mid-80% COMLEX pass rate one year, that terrifies me)
  • Expensive CoL from how much these apartments cost in Knoxville
  • Not really where I would prefer to practice or do residency in the future

Have you visited PCOM South GA? I grew up near Moultrie, and I gotta say unless you have a real love for rural life, I think it'd be a tough place to live in your mid 20's, far from your family. It really is in the boonies. If that's your ideal location, then great! But just make sure that's what you want before committing to PCOM

I have not been able, I lack the money to travel or do any campus visits basically until the semester starts sadly 🙁 but yes that's a huge factor to consider now too...

Go to PCOM South GA. It has not had the complaints of the other 2 schools. Nova’s cost of living also has driven up the total price by a lot recently.
