PCOM specialties

So most DO schools graduate students into primary care residencies...OBGYN, pediatrics, internal med, etc. So why does PCOM have a higher proportion of its students going into specialties than most other schools? I've only seen the match lists from a couple of schools, so maybe PCOM isn't the only one like this. Thanks!!

because PCOM can be called the best DO school.. its also in the middle of the medical capital of the US
KCOM,CCOM,DMUCOM are also very good schools which come to mine which you could attend.
however do remember some of those people could have originally wanted to go into things like primary care..
realistically going to any DO school allows you to get into most specialties..
just know if your aiming for rad's or derma you'll need good stats..
most other residencies however usually aren't that hard to get into..

Various DO schools have tons of people go into very specialized fields. I think KCOM and KCUMB lead the pack with 55% going specialized. However, any DO school where you work hard and earn a spot will allow you to get one. Some that come to mind specifically with lots of specialty matches are KCOM, KCUMB and DMU. However, this really doesn't mean anything, besides that these schools are solid and a lot of their students wanted these things. It's going to be funny if PC fields get the bump with the reform and start making specialist money because people are going to start threads asking why some of these DO schools have so many Rads, Ortho, and Uro matches and not more in FP and IM.

I'm keeping my fingers corssed on this one Jagger. FP/IM needs a bit of a boost in this new bill, which will be greatly needed as incentive...
