Okay I just googled it. They have a lot of programs! Most definitely bigger than the school I went to. Looks like a nice place. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before. I'm from IL though so I'm not familiar with a lot of TN schools.

I'm not much of a basketball person but the first school I attended had a (in)famous basketball coach who left to go to Texas Tech. I'll give you one guess!

I've never met him, but one of my clients went to tech for law school, and was his neighbor when she was there (fairly well-off before she went to law school, so she could afford a place next to Bob Knight). She said that he is 10x the jackass in real life compared to how he comes across on tv.

I can imagine. I never met him in person but I did get to see him thrown out of a basketball game for trying to fight with the ref. I don't understand people like that.

OP, I think they're both great schools and you will get a great education at either. 👍

I live in a township outside of my town of approximately ~3500 people. Some people have more than that in their high school. I now live in Philly which is ~1,000,000 people strong (+/- w/ the daily shootings 🙁) and I don't hate it. It was actually a lot better than living in a place where you have to drive 20 minutes to go to Walmart or 45 minutes to get to a mall. Don't knock it til you try it.

I will e-mail the dean this weekend. I have my two science prof letters and one non-science already so I'm good there. Can I send all those letters? I'm just having a problem with the DO letter which is a requirement at some schools. I've written about my DO dilemma in the LOR thread if you want to check it out and give me any input you may have. I appreciate any advice anyone can give me. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=147087&page=7 The drama begins on post #329.

Just wanted to update about applying to PCOM. I still haven't e-mailed my Dean but sure it wouldn't be a problem to get a letter from him. However my husband's advisor won't get back to him and his dean said he will not write him a letter. He is the interim dean and said he's not in the habit of writing LORs for people he doesn't know and if my husband needs a letter saying he is in good standing with the school he should contact the registrars office. Guess it's a no-go on the PCOMs but thanks everyone for your input! 🙂

Maybe you should call PCOM and let them know about your husband's situation. Maybe they would accept a registrar's letter in this case? It's at least worth a try!

It's hard because it seems that the LOR requirement wouldn't be that difficult but he graduated 13 years ago and apparently his school is not that friendly towards alumni. I told him next time they send a letter asking for donations he should reply that maybe they should cater more to their alumni if they expect to get anything out of them. I'll tell him that he could e-mail PCOM and see if there's any way around this and let him decide what he thinks we should do. Thanks for the input!
