Hey everyone,

For any of you that filled out the PCSOM secondary, did you get a letter of rec or eval from two science profs or one science prof and one from a dean or premedical advisor. the aacom.org website states that the school wants two science prof letters but the secondary app wants one and the other from an advisor. i didn't ask my advisor or dean because neither know me well as my science professors. i am seriously thinking of just submitting two science prof LORs in addition to a DO LOR. any thoughts?

I would think if it says either or, then it doesn't matter. I decided on an advisor in place of one science professor, since I don't know many of the science faculty.

hi. i am in a similar position. I have not completed the secondary yet, and am not sure about PCSOM. However, I have emailed many other schools about exceptions to and requirements for LORs. The admissions offices were very helpful and let me know exactly what I could and could not substitute for the suggested/required LORs. Some schools would accept nothing but what they initially asked for, but others definately wanted letters that would best represent you, no matter who they were from. So, long story short...I would email their admissions office.
hope this helps.

Hello everyone,

I am a first year at PCSOM. When I applied last year, I had three LOR from science professors, one from a DO, and one from an MD. Although (at least last year) they did not require you to have a DO LOR, I think it would be a good idea. That is just my $0.02.

As for the school, it is GREAT! We just finished a week of orientation and have two days of classes under our belt. This is a great school. The administration, the faculty, the professors, lab assistants, the community, you name it, they are great.

I would love to talk to any of you about PCSOM. If anyone has anyquestions, just let me know. You can view some information on the school from the website from our class. Go to www.geocities.com/pcsom2008/index

Good luck on your applications. Get those secondaries in as early as possible. One of the many great things about PCSOM is that they let you know if you are in or not within 3 to 4 days of your interview. See you!

Aaron
